Why it is cheaper than it looks
A completion gap is two moves, not one, and both of them are into and out of our own store rather than across the country. The load is wrapped once on the way in, and pieces wrapped for storage stay wrapped until they are delivered. People expect the storage months to be the expensive part; usually the two moving days are, and they were going to be paid for anyway. At Rhayader a 20 ft container, about 1,200 cubic feet or roughly two Luton van loads, is £130 a month; in Chester a barn unit of the same size is £150 a month.
What happens on each day
Day one: the crew wraps every piece, boxes what is not already boxed, and loads it into our store at Chester or Rhayader; you sign the job sheet for what was collected. Day two, whenever it is: the load comes out, goes on the van, and is delivered to the rooms you point to. Beds are rebuilt where that is in the quote.
A week, a month or a year
Storage is charged monthly, with a one-month minimum, and either side ends it with one month's written notice, so a gap that grows from a week to six is not a new arrangement. If the purchase falls through altogether and you rent, we hold the load as long as you need, and you can take out a box of winter coats or the children's bikes by arrangement with us.
Which store is nearer
Goods from Chester, Cheshire, North Wales and the Wirral normally go to our store in Chester. Goods from Mid Wales go to Rhayader: that includes families moving in or out of Newtown, Llanidloes, Welshpool and Llandrindod Wells. Both addresses are given when you enquire, and visits are by arrangement so someone is there to meet you.
What to keep out of storage
The things you will need in the rented flat or at the in-laws: clothes for the season, the children's school things, the laptop, the paperwork for the purchase. Pack them separately and keep them with you. Everything else can go.
