Duffield Removals stores furniture and boxes as part of a move, not as a unit you drive to: our crew collects, wraps and stores your things, then delivers them to your new address when you are ready. At Rhayader in Mid Wales a 20 ft container (about 1,200 cubic feet) is £130 a month and an indoor crate (about 250 cubic feet) is £40 a month; in Chester we store in secure, clean, dry and fully protected units of about 1,200 cubic feet in a converted barn inside our workshop, for £150 a month. The minimum is one month, then monthly with one month's written notice.
Where are the two stores, and what do they cost?
Goods from Powys and Mid Wales normally go to Rhayader; goods from Chester, Cheshire, North Wales and the Wirral normally go to Chester. Both addresses are given when you enquire.

Storage for a house move
Most of what we store is furniture storage for a house move: a whole house or a room's worth of furniture that has to wait somewhere between one address and the next. Our guide to storage between completion dates explains how that works when the sale and the purchase do not line up.
Why people store with a removals company
- The sale completes before the purchase, and the whole house has to go somewhere for a few weeks
- Building work or a renovation, with the furniture out of the way until it is finished
- Downsizing, with the pieces that will not fit held until a decision is made
- A house being cleared after a bereavement, with some of the contents kept while the family decides
- A business that needs office furniture, stock or archive boxes out of the way for a while
What we do and what you do
We collect, wrap and load; we store; we deliver back. You sign the storage contract, which is done digitally. Our goods in transit insurance covers your things on the road in and on the road out.
Not a self-storage centre
If you want a unit you can drive up to on a Saturday morning and put a box in, a self-storage centre is the better fit, and we will happily deliver into one as part of your move. Our storage suits a whole house or a room's worth of furniture that needs to be out of the way and looked after for a while.
