Duffield Removals clears houses, farmhouses, outbuildings, garages and lofts across Powys and Mid Wales with our Mid Wales vans and our own crew, under our waste carrier registration CBDU13412, held by Paul Duffield. The price is our crew's time, counted from leaving to getting back so the drive to the tip is part of it, plus a waste charge by weight for whatever cannot be donated or rehomed. Send photos and we quote before the day. Whatever local charities will take goes to them first, so it never reaches the scales.
What does a clearance in Powys cost?
There is no price list, because a single shed and a full farmhouse share nothing but the method. Every quote is built from the same parts.
- Crew time, door to door: the hours from leaving our base to getting back, which includes emptying the property and the drive to the tip. Powys is a big county, so that drive is a real part of the job and the quote shows it, rather than leaving it for the day.
- Access: a farmhouse at the end of a long track, a cottage with no room to turn a van, or a flat above a shop on a town-centre street each change the time it takes. Mention the access with your photos and it is in the quote.
- Charities first: before anything is weighed as waste, we give away or rehome every item someone will take.
- The waste charge: what is left goes to a commercial recycling centre and is charged by weight, confirmed when the loaded van is weighed in.
- Your quote: photos of each room, the loft, the garage and any outbuildings to our WhatsApp on 07904 125775, with the postcode and a word on what is staying.
Farmhouses, barns and outbuildings
In Mid Wales a clearance is often more than the house. There may be a barn, a workshop, a stable block or a shed that has been filling up for years. Each one is cleared and priced in the same way as a room, from photos, so you can choose to clear the house now and the outbuildings later.
If anything is to stay with the property, such as items the buyer has agreed to take, tell us before the day and we leave it where it is.
When the family lives away
Many of the houses we clear in Powys belong to a parent who has died or moved into care, and the family often lives a long way off. We can work with the family directly or with the solicitor, estate agent or neighbour who holds the keys. You agree the quote from your photos, tell us what is to be kept, and we send word when the house is empty.
Every clearance after a death is handled with care. Papers, photographs and anything that looks personal are set aside for the family rather than thrown away.
A move and a clearance in the same week
When someone in Mid Wales downsizes, the move and the clearance often land in the same week. We are a removals company as well, so we quote both together: the furniture you keep goes to the new home on one van, and what you are leaving behind is cleared on another, by a crew who know which pile is which.
Landlords and letting agents
We clear rented houses and flats between tenancies, from a few things left in a shed to a fully furnished house, so the property is ready to show again quickly.
Our waste carrier licence, and why it matters to you
Anyone who carries other people's waste for money has to be registered as a waste carrier, with Natural Resources Wales in Wales or the Environment Agency in England. Ours is CBDU13412, held by Paul Duffield, who runs the business, and the vans that do the work carry "Removals, House Clearance & Waste Disposal" on the side. The law puts a duty on the householder too: if waste you hand over is fly-tipped, you can be fined as well. Ask any clearance firm for its number and a copy of the registration before the day; we send ours to anyone who asks.
We receive a waste transfer note for every waste job and keep every one. If you want a copy for your own records, ask and it is yours.
