How do I get a quote from Duffield Removals?

Use the three-step form on this site, ring Chester on 01244 794 244 or Mid Wales on 01686 249 248, or message photos of the rooms to 07904 125775 on WhatsApp. We quote from your answers and your photos, and the written quote is valid for 30 days.

How long is a quote valid for?

Thirty days from the date it is issued. If the work starts more than thirty days after you accept it, the price is checked again.

What are your working hours?

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. Moves at weekends, on public holidays or outside those hours are done by arrangement and carry an out-of-hours charge that is stated in the quote.

When do I pay?

Payment is due in full by cleared funds on or before the morning of the move. We confirm the method with the quote.

What happens if I have to cancel or move the date?

More than 14 working days before the move there is no charge. Between 5 and 13 working days it is 30% of the removal charge, under 5 working days 60%, within 24 hours 75%, and on the day 100%. These reflect the crew and vehicles held for you; if a completion slips we will always try to move the booking rather than charge.

Are you insured, and what is the liability if something is damaged?

We carry goods in transit insurance to £120,000. Our standard liability for loss or damage is a fixed amount per item set out in our terms and conditions; a higher limit for valuable pieces is agreed in the quote for a higher price. Claims must be made in writing within seven days of delivery.

Do you dismantle furniture and disconnect appliances?

Dismantling and reassembling furniture is done when it is agreed in the quote, so tell us which pieces need it. We do not disconnect or reconnect appliances, gas cookers, fixtures or fittings; a qualified person does that before the day.

What will you not move?

Perishable food, anything needing a controlled environment, animals, birds, fish and plants, firearms and ammunition, and anything prohibited or stolen. Fuel, gas cylinders, paint and chemicals stay behind for safety. Our guide on what removal companies will not carry explains what to do with each.

Do I have to be there on the day?

Yes, you or someone you have authorised, at both the collection and the delivery, to walk the crew round, sign the job sheet.

Do you charge extra for stairs, long carries or parking?

The quote assumes the van can load within about ten metres of the door and that goods are on the ground and first floors. Higher floors, long carries, awkward access and parking suspension fees are extra and are stated before the day when you tell us about them.

Where are you based?

Our vans are based in Chester and in Mid Wales, with storage at Rhayader and Chester. The crew comes to you, and we give the storage address when you enquire.
