Wrapping on a normal move versus export wrapping
On a local move each piece gets a furniture blanket and stretch wrap: it is on the van for an hour and handled twice. Export wrapping is a different level: padded, wrapped and sealed, so it can be handled several times, sit in a store and come out months later looking as it went in. It takes longer per piece and uses more material, which is why it is priced separately.
When it is worth it
- Any move with storage in the middle of more than a couple of weeks
- Long-distance moves, especially with an overnight in storage
- Antiques, polished wood, marble, glass, artwork, mirrors and pianos on any move
- Anything you would be upset to see with a mark on it
When it is not
A local move of everyday furniture, loaded and unloaded in one day, does not need it. Blankets and wrap are enough, and we will tell you so.
Asking for it
Tell us which pieces you want export wrapped when you ask for a quote for the move or the storage, and we price it in. If you are not sure a piece needs it, send a photo and we will say.
